THE HISTORY

In 1976, Camille Scirto opened the first electrolysis hair removal clinic in Lockport, right in the heart of downtown at 1 Main Street in the Clinton Building. The building was owned by her husband, prominent local businessman William Scirto. William and Camille were a well-known and beloved couple. Camille devoted herself to building a broad and loyal clientele with a reputation for excellence in the permanent hair removal industry. Camille closed her business in the 1980's.

Shortly thereafter, the Clinton Street location was taken over by industry legend Gladys M. Thompson, who was known for her meticulous perfectionism and unmatched knowledge of the biochemistry of hair growth and permanent hair removal. Gladys changed her company name to "Lockport Electrolysis" and expanded the business, taking on a number of employees, including her standout apprentice, Susan Frost, who had a natural talent for electrolysis and to whom Gladys taught everything she knew. Gladys retired in 1994 and sold the business to Susan. A shrewd business woman, Susan expanded the business further, opening multiple locations throughout Niagara and Erie Counties. Susan and Gladys are widely regarded as legends in the electrolysis industry.​​​​

MY STORY

In 2009, I was a single mother raising three children and working full time as a collection agent when I married my wonderful husband, local attorney Christopher Johnson. We bought a house in the suburbs of Lockport and I quit my job and became a stay-at-home mother. The very first morning waking up with my new husband I realized that I would not be able to hide my facial hair plucking routine any longer, which was my hour-long morning ritual. I had to disclose my secret! My new husband asked, "Isn't there some type of permanent solution for this?" I answered, "Yes, but being a single mom, I could never justify spending the extra money and time." He then said, "Well now is your time to do it!" Soon after, I was introduced to my permanent hair removal savior, Susan Frost, the owner of Lockport Electrolysis and well-known industry guru.

After a few weeks of electrolysis treatment I noticed the hair growth slowing and the hair diameter thinning. Soon my problem was solved! Oh what a glorious time! No more facial hair! Smooth skin. No more time-consuming and tedious stubble plucking. As fortune would have it, Susan needed a part-time employee to help with her workload. After three years working for Susan, she informed me that she was going to sell her Lockport branch and she offered to sell it to me, her devout and loyal apprentice. In 2015, my husband and I bought the business. Soon after buying the business we had the idea to add laser hair removal and become the "total hair removal solution!" We decided it was wise to purchase the very best equipment available on the market, and in 2017 we moved into a larger space at 60 Professional Parkway to accommodate our expansion.
